BMI View: Poland represents one of the most attractive markets in the CEE region for multinational pharmaceutical firms. Widespread reforms to the healthcare system, driven by the PiS party continue at pace and will lead to greatly improved affordability of medicines and access to healthcare services. As such, Poland will remain a regional outperformer over the long-term.

The strong determination of the Law and Justice (PiS) Party to implement its election promises, of which healthcare was at the forefront, bodes positively for multinational drugmaker prospects over the coming years. The principal changes to healthcare that the government outlined in its election pledges were: free medicines for citizens over age of 75 and fundamental healthcare reform.
