Reference Pricing System Generates Savings

Finland's national pharmaceutical industry association, Pharma Industry Finland (PIF), has stated that the reference pricing system, implemented in April 2009, has generated EUR85mn (US$115mn) in savings. According to the association, the losses brought about by the reference price system, combined with the economic downturn, have resulted in large-scale redundancies within the pharmaceutical industry.
