Multinational pharmaceutical company Pfizer is to expand its research and development (R&D) operations in central and western China, strengthening its already well-established presence in one of the world's fastest-growing drug markets. Sales of medicines are forecast to reach CNY294bn (US$43.02bn) in 2009, which is a 13.9% increase compared with the 2008 figure of CNY258.3 (US$37.16bn).
