Following the announcement in July that the price of pharmaceuticals imported from Europe would be allowed to rise from October in response to the weak dirham against the Euro, the United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Health has unveiled a longer-term solution. Since 2005 the dirham has weakened against the euro by 35% - from AED/EUR4.3 to AED/EUR5.8 - but the rate used by the Ministry of Health to calculate import prices has remained fixed, leading to a severe erosion of distributor
