The US FDA has released its list of approved seasonal influenza vaccines for the 2008-2009 season. A total of six vaccines have been approved, which protect against new strains of the virus that are most likely to cause flu between early October and mid-May. Sanofi Pasteur has already began shipping its Fluzone vaccine, with 1.3mn doses sent to the US in the first week of August. The FDA already released six lots of the French firm's vaccine for distribution, as well as another six lots of MedImmune's vaccine and one lot of Novartis'
