In a move that should result in major consolidation in Jamaica's health insurance market, Sagicor Life Jamaica has agreed to acquire the health insurance portfolio of Blue Cross Jamaica, an independent licensee of US insurance giant Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. However, since Guardian Life is the only other significant health insurance player in Jamaica, the deal is certain to come in for regulatory scrutiny on competition
