Drugmakers will be limited to maximum price rises of 4.6% in Brazil's private prescription market between March 31 2008 and March 31 2009, according to an announcement by medicine price regulator, CMED. Where generics have a market share of greater than 20%, manufacturers will be allowed to use this maximum rise. However, most patented drugs will be limited to smaller rises, of 3.6% where generics have a 15-20% market share, and 2.5% where the generics share is less than 15%.
