Demonstrating its desire to compete in challenging pharmaceutical markets, India's Venus Remedies has received accreditation from the General Foreign Trade Organisation (GFTO) of Syria. Its manufacturing plant in Baddi, India, has been approved by the GFTO and exports will be routed to Syria through Venus' German subsidiary Venus Pharma GmbH. The arrangement will make use of Germany's strong trade links with Syria. According to the International Trade Centre, Germany was Syria's top pharmaceutical import partner in 2006 and accounted for more than 10% of pharmaceutical
