Following positive steps by Argentina to improve its regulatory environment, BMI has upgraded the country's Business Environment Rating (BER) for the Approvals Process subcategory from 4 to 6. Our dramatic reappraisal has been triggered by the announcement that Argentina will become the first Latin American member of the Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention and Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S), although an improvement in Argentina's score has been in our minds for several months following a string of strong decisions by the country's medicines regulator
