After seeing 70% average annual growth in Malaysia during recent years, US clinical research organisation (CRO) Quintiles has identified the country as a 'key' growth market. Accordingly the firm plans to run even more trials there, particularly in the field of oncology and other high-value therapeutic areas. While BMI expects the Malaysian research sector to expand significantly, it will still lag behind the neighbouring Southeast Asian powerhouses of Singapore and Thailand, which have long been established in this
