BMI forecasts that Belarusian drugmaker Belmedpreparaty will increase domestic sales by approximately 40% in 2007, making it one of the fastest growing companies in the global pharmaceutical industry. Belmedpreparaty's phenomenal growth trajectory will be mirrored by other local firms, such as Borisovsky Plant, as Belarus embarks on an ambitious BYR300bn (US$141mn) programme to upgrade all pharmaceutical production lines to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. However, the prospects for foreign drugmakers - while still attractive in regional terms - will be somewhat tempered by a national initiative to reduce reliance on imported
