Multinational drugmakers are filing seemingly groundless legal actions against South Korean generic medicine producers in an effort to keep prices of patented medicines at current levels. Under the recently signed free trade agreement with the US, foreign drugmakers can challenge potential generic competitors in the courts, thereby preventing approval and pricing of cheaper equivalents.
