BMI has reaffirmed its encouraging prospects for Singapore's biomedical sector after UK-based GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) announced that a clinical candidate will emerge from the Biopolis cluster this year and the news that Healtheuniverse - a US regenerative medicines firm - is setting up a subsidiary in the country. Singapore is actively promoting its status as regional hub for the biomedical sciences and milestones like these demonstrate that the country is making headway to achieving that goal. We expect similar developments throughout 2007 and over the next few years. Inevitably, a major new medicine or a revolutionary technology will emerge from research
