With the news of Setafno Pessina's recent approach for UK-based retailer and pharmacy chain Alliance Boots , backed by US-based buy-out specialist Kohlberg Kravis Roberts , there is speculation that private equity firms could be looking to target the pharmaceutical industry. Other industries have already seen a high degree of involvement from private equity firms, which snap up publicly-quoted companies and restructure them before selling them on at a profit.
