Italian drugmaker Recordati has reported flat revenues for 2006, with turnover reaching EUR576.2mn (US$757.3mn) form a figure of EUR576.1mn (US$757.2mn) in 2005, primarily due to a 7.8% fall in domestic sales. However, the company managed to post a double-digit increase in earnings, with net income rising 14.7% to EUR74mn (US$97.2mn). Recordati claims that increased profitability has primarily been due to the success of its flagship hypertension treatment Zanidip (lercanidipin), and 'the careful management of the company's resources'.
