Saudi Arabia is planning to extend health insurance coverage to the entire population through the establishment of a new national fund, which will be financed by the government. Saudi nationals receiving insurance under the plan will be entitled to free medical services at both private and public hospitals. The new plans come as the authorities attempt to restructure the entire health service, which includes turning public hospitals into commercial operations in order to improve efficiency.
