Saudi Arabia is considering establishing a company that will take sole responsibility for drug imports. It is hoped that the creation of a single company will help to unify the purchase price of medicines across the public health sector. Also, the government hopes to get greater leverage, enabling it to negotiate drugs at more competitive prices, which could save the country substantial funds.
