Growth of the global biotechnology sector is expected to exceed that of the pharmaceutical industry significantly over the next five years. Currently, 83% and of pharmaceutical sales are from small-molecules and 15% from biologicals. But, by 2010, only 76% of sales will be from small-molecules and 22% from biologicals. At that time, the global biotechnology market will be worth just over US$100bn - a 70% increase on 2005 sales
