Thailand's interim government is considering options for the sustainable financing of its healthcare system, after recently scrapping the landmark THB30 (US$0.84) programme. Under the scheme, introduced in 2001, all patients, including the uninsured, could visit any government hospital and pay only THB30 (US$0.84) per visit, with the remaining cost of the treatment borne by the state.
