France is to allow the sale of five pharmaceutical products that were originally put on the market elsewhere in Europe after it implemented a European directive on free circulation of goods into national law. From early next year, five medicines from Spain and Portugal will be available in French pharmacies. Because prices of medicines are already relatively low in France, BMI does not expect an immediate surge in parallel imports (the purchase of medicines at low prices in one country and their subsequent resale at higher prices in another country). However, we believe that the practice will slowly take off
