Driven by robust GDP growth over the last year, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry has announced it budget plans for 2007, revealing that it will increase the amount it spends on healthcare by 18.9% to UAH20.1bn (US$4.1bn). Simultaneously, the government reiterated that it plans a large-scale reform of the healthcare system in 2007 or 2008, which will require additional financing. Accordingly, BMI has upgraded its projections for public sector healthcare expenditure in the country, with spending reaching US$6.3bn by 2010, up 31% from our previous projections.
