Tesco, Eni Look To Sell OTCs

Italian petrol station chain Eni and Tesco - the UK's largest supermarket chain - have both revealed that they considering selling over-the-counter (OTC) drugs in Hungary when the government permits such sales next year. Currently, non-prescription medicines can only be sold in pharmacies, which has resulted in a closed market. BMI fully expects both firms to enter the sector and predicts that many other retailers will follow their lead given the tremendous opportunity that OTC drugs represent. We forecast that the sector will significantly outpace the total pharmaceutical market over the forecast period, growing 10% year-on-year and reaching a valuation
