The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that Latin America remains one of the regions worst affected by illegal medicines such as counterfeits. IMPACT - a new working group of 20 organisations bringing together global agencies including WIPO, the WTO, the OECD, Interpol and the World Bank - reports that the penetration of fake or substandard drugs in some Latin American countries has reached similar levels to Russia or even Sub-Saharan Africa.
