Illustrating the Czech Republic's adoption of a true market economy, a number of state-run hospitals are due to privatised. The move immediately follows a constitutional court decision that abolished the law that hospitals should be run on a not-for-profit basis, as implemented by the previous left-wing regime. BMI views this development as positive because the privatisation process will provide an injection of cash into the under-funded healthcare system.
