Because of cost-cutting measures imposed by domestic regulators, French firm Sanofi-Aventis - Europe's leading pharmaceutical company - is to eliminate 500 jobs at its headquarters. Simultaneously, the country's Health Minister has decided against removing a selection of medicines from the reimbursement list, instead enforcing 20% price cuts or lower reimbursement rates for the products.
