A consortium of smaller Argentine drugmakers is readying a new ARS140mn (US$46mn) production site in southern Buenos Aires. The 21-hectare site will focus on export markets, and unite the manufacturing output of 11 local firms including Montpellier, a unit of second-ranked Bago Group. Local government officials hope that the new complex, which is due to be completed in 2008, will provide around 2,000 much-needed jobs.
