Five members of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) - Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam - are aiming to have adopted common standards for the documentation of pharmaceutical exports by year-end. The proposals will result in lower tariff rates and less bureaucracy, facilitating trade within the region. Other members of the union such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines are expected to implement the guidelines in 2008.
