Much of Asia is not in sufficiently prepared to cope with a flu pandemic, claims a recent report published in UK medical journal The Lancet. The authors of the work praise individual countries such as Hong Kong, which have comprehensive plans to deal with any outbreak, but caution that governments across the region have failed to establish a co-ordinated response. Part of the problem lies in an inequality of health resources, which has left less developed countries particularly vulnerable.
