The World Bank has agreed a US$110mn loan to support the health sector in the Philippines. Like other World Bank-financed programmes, the loan is designed to improve the quality of public spending and reduce the risk of corruption. This is especially relevant, as there is substantial malfeasance in the Filipino health sector, including such practices as the illegal sale of vaccines and medicines,
