Stakeholders in Peru's medical establishment have weighed in to a controversy over a clinical trial of a new treatment for infant diahorrea. The product - an oral rehydration solution synthesised from transgenic rice - was developed by US biotech Ventria. While gene therapy advocates have hailed the successful research as a breakthrough, dissident local medical groups claim that the tests were
