Indonesia has announced its 43rd human death from bird flu, giving it the highest mortality rates from the disease in the world. Most worryingly, in contrast to other affected nations, the death rate is continuing to climb regularly. The government has restated its commitment to fighting the disease, but has been notably unwilling to invest its own money, relying instead on international aid and recently putting in a request for US$900mn in grants.
