Local press reports claim that talks between the US and South Korea concerning a potential Free Trade Agreement are beginning to stall with pharmaceutical industry identified as one area of contention. Reportedly, the US raised the issue of increasing the prices of new US-made pharmaceuticals in the Korean market. However, the Korean authorities refused to make any policy pledges in this area, merely promising to investigate the impact these changes would have on its healthcare system.
