Industry observers claim that the Bahraini population is in need of significant lifestyle changes in order to avert major health problems in the future. Doctors have stated that diets in the country are too rich and insufficient exercise is taken, culminating in epidemic levels of obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. To address this problem, there have been calls for a greater focus on prevention with regular health screenings and education programmes in schools, offices and other social centres.
