Local Manufacturing Moving Forward

Uganda's Kampala Pharmaceutical Industries (KPI) has announced that it now manufactures the anti-hypertensive drug Cardipac (amlodipine). The firm also states that the drug's retail price will be 50% lower than the imported equivalent. Uganda is gradually becoming a more attractive target for FDI in east Africa and arguably, the performance of its domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is critical to reducing import reliance.
