Expired Drugs Sold In Private Hospital Raises Regulatory Concerns

After a patient experienced adverse drug reactions (ADR) to expired medication prescribed at a private hospital in Saudi Arabia, regulatory control and pharmacovigilance authorities have become concerned. The Saudi Arabia Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) includes both a national Pharmacovigilance Centre and a Drug and Poison Information division. While the former is still being developed, the SFDA's established presence should enable it to identify which hospitals, both public and private, are selling expired medicines.
