Healthcare Reform Finally Possible?

In line with BMI's view that healthcare reforms are becoming more popular ways of optimising spending in the emerging markets, the UAE government has announced that it will overhaul the country's healthcare sector with the long-term aim of boosting spending and efficiency. The drug registration law will be revised and will include new or amended policies for prescription drugs and the creation of the Emirates Health Authority. Therefore we expect healthcare spending in the UAE to increase from US$8.9bn in 2009 to US$14.5bn by 2014 and will account for 4% of GDP.
