Government Announces Pharmaceutical Price Readjustment
March 2011 | Industry Trend AnalysisBMI View: Following the inauguration of Câmara de Regulação do Mercado de Medicamentos (CMed)in 2003, the Brazilian price regulator, and the consequent implementation of annual price controls, pharmaceutical prices have followed the general consumer price index relatively closely and often slightly below inflation. While this does not necessarily reflect a good value initial launch price for drugmakers, BMI considers the existing system a relatively fair and transparent mechanism for increasing prices.
