BMI View: Although the UAE's price re-evaluations of over 200 essential pharmaceuticals will have a negative effect on the total size of its pharmaceutical market, the extent of the fallout has been overstated for political effect. The price reductions should be taken in the context of regional cost-containment measures as the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) compare their own consumer purchasing prices with those of Saudi Arabia.
