BMI Revises Market Forecast Scenario In Response To Structural Reforms
March 2011 | Industry Trend AnalysisBMI View: We have lowered our projections of Hungary's pharmaceutical market in response to the government's structural reform programme to control prices and public expenditure on medicines. We stress that the widely quoted 30% contraction in public reimbursement funding will not lead to an equivalent contraction of drug market expenditure, with a large proportion of this funding substituted by out-of-pocket spending and increased contributions from drug producers. We note increased risk to our forecast scenario, with a high probability that some of the measures announced could be amended before adoption, which is expected as early as July 2011.
