BMI View: The increased pace of research and development (R&D) collaborations between Russian and foreign companies will facilitate knowledge transfer, expand Russia's local production capacity and introduce new technologies and drug candidates to domestic pharmaceutical manufacturers.The Russian government's Pharma2020 strategy, announced in the 2008 Healthcare Development Programme, calls for 50% of the country's drugs to be produced domestically by 2020. To quantify these market dynamics, BMI has now extended its drug import reliance forecast for the country to 2020.
