Pharmaceutical Sales To Approach US$4bn Within A Decade

Sales of pharmaceuticals in Syria will increase from SYP15.4bn (US$336mn) in 2009 to SYP16.6bn (US$363mn) in 2010. Due to the strengthening pound, this equates to 7.6% growth in local currency terms and 8.1% growth in US dollar terms. Key drivers of market expansion include a rapidly expanding economy (GDP +5.9% in 2009), increased government involvement in healthcare, a preference for branded medicines and an improving business environment.
