Botox Approved For Migraine Treatments

US-based drugmaker Allergan's Botox (botulinum toxin type A) has been licensed by the MHRA in the UK for the prophylaxis of headaches in adults who have chronic migraines (headaches on at least 15 days per month of which at least 8 days are with migraine) - providing the company with the first licence worldwide of Botox for this indication. Clinical trials showed that patients treated with Botox experienced a major improvement in their quality of life scores and in the amount of headache-related disability compared with those on a placebo, indicating a significant improvement in their functioning, vitality, psychological distress
