The End Of Free Pricing?

German Chancellor Angela Merkel's Cabinet has approved legislation that will require drug companies and health insurers to negotiate the prices of new drugs based on cost-effectiveness criteria. The bill - which would also allow drugmakers to set a price unilaterally if an agreement with the insurers has not been reached after 15 months - still needs to be approved by the lower house of parliament, the Bundestag. However, BMI believes that this signifies the end of the free drug pricing regime in Germany.
