Prescription Cannabis Medicine Approved

GW Pharmaceuticals has received regulatory approval in the UK for its prescription cannabis medicine, Sativex (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol + cannabinol) oromucosal spray, for the treatment of spasticity associated with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The UK is the first country in the world to grant a full regulatory authorisation for the product, which contains two cannabinoids as active ingredients - THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) - and is the first cannabinoid medicine derived from whole plant extracts from the Cannabis sativa plant.
