Parallel Export Worries Drugmakers
June 2010 | Industry Trend AnalysisThe implementation of a market decree which will bring about 'short-term' price cuts of up to 27% on medicines in Greece is worrying drugmakers operating in the country. Drugmakers fear that not only will their Greek revenues suffer, but revenues elsewhere in Europe will too, as a result of the effect of Greek price reductions elsewhere in Europe and an increase in the parallel export of medicines out of the country. There are also fears that the uptick in parallel exports from Greece could leave pharmacies short of vital drugs.
