Increasing Investment In The Clinical Trials Sector

The SEK5.29bn (US$0.65bn) invested in 2008 represents a figure approximately 35% higher than that invested in clinical trials five years previously (SEK3.90bn (US$0.48bn)). BMI welcomes this increased investment in the sector, but we believe the government needs to work to maintain its long-term attractiveness in this area, especially as the costs of conducting clinical trials are forecast to rise. Additionally, an emerging trend is for clinical trials to be shifted from Western to Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) as a result of factors such as greater access to drug-naïve patients,
