Government To Tackle Counterfeit Medicines
January 2010 | Industry Trend AnalysisThe Bolivian government has announced the implementation of measures to combat the counterfeit pharmaceuticals trade following the seizure of more than 40 tonnes of fake or expired drugs in December 2009. In addition to the importation of fake finished drug into the country, a police raid also exposed a local drugmaker producing counterfeit medicines in sub-standard manufacturing conditions. The police operation led to the seizure of almost 20 tonnes of chemicals that were to be used to create counterfeits.
