Lek Expands Biosimilar Production
March 2010 | Industry Trend AnalysisSlovenian pharmaceutical company Lek, a division of Novartis's generic arm Sandoz, has opened a new US$3.8mn biopharmaceutical production facility to produce biosimilar epoetin alfa. Sandoz markets epoetin alfa products under the trade names Binocrit and Epoetin alfa Hexal in the EU, following approval from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in 2007, while also marketing its products elsewhere in Europe and globally.
