Co-Payments Cause Controversy

Vietnam's new Law on Health Insurance is causing public discontent. Many people on low incomes cannot afford the co-payments and are forgoing check-ups and treatment. BMI believes that further changes to the system are needed. Options include increasing the payment threshold, lowering the co-payment percentages or providing direct assistance to the underprivileged, perhaps through the charitable 'Fund 139'.
