The global generic drug market is expected to expand from US$202.4bn in 2009 to US$223.7bn in 2010 - a rise of 10.5%. Although this forecast is below the sector's 11.9% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in 2004-2008, it is still impressive and well above the 0.7% projection for global patented drug sales. BMI calculates five- and 10-year CAGRs of 10.8% and 9.6% for the global generic drug market.
